Vodafone Foundation Smart Accessibility Awards


The Vodafone Foundation Smart Accessibility Awards is a new competition to promote the development of mobile applications to improve the lives of people with disabilities or impairments and older people to help them become more actively involved in society.

There is a 200,000 Euros no-strings prize fund that will be split equally between four winners. The categories are Social participation, Independent living, Mobility and Wellbeing . The competition is open until 15 October 2011. All entries should be submitted to http://developer.vodafone.com/smartaccess2011/. It is free to enter.

The programme is supported and co-organized by AGE Platform Europe, the European network of around 160 organisations of and for people aged 50+, and the European Disability Forum (EDF), the NGO that represents the interests of 80 million Europeans with disabilities.

To support the awards, Mobile Monday chapters in London, Manchester and Belfast are running workshops aimed at developers, designers and entrepreneurs looking at mobile accessibility.
